World classic: Aaron Judge appointed captain of the American team

We are less than a year old from the next world baseball classic and now the United States team has its first commitment for the 2026 tournament.

Indeed, the New York York Aaron Judge Yankees a bitiger appeared live on MLB Network this morning (Monday), announcing that he would wear the colors of the United States next March.

Manager Mark Derosa, who is an analyst for MLB Network, confirmed that Judge would be the captain of the American team, replacing the Angels of Los Angeles Mike Trout, even if the latter is healthy.

It will be the first time that the judge will participate in a world baseball classic, he who has not represented the United States in 2023, and the main interested party considers this opportunity as an honor.

I was looking forward to taking this opportunity again and having the chance to represent my country and to be a captain, which Trouty did the last time. It is a fairly special honor.

Judge added that he hoped that Trout will evolve on the outside field of the American team by his side.

For his part, Derosa said he planned to reveal the rest of his alignment shortly, while the skipper And his captain will hold a press conference at 3:45 p.m. (Quebec time) today at the Yankee Stadium.

The manager was confirmed in his functions last week, after having placed his training second in the classic in 2023. The rest of his staff, which includes, among other things, the old left paw of Yankees Andy Pettitte, was announced last Friday.

The United States will face Mexico, Great Britain, Italy and Brazil in Pool B between March 6 and 11, 2026, these first games taking place in Houston.

The potential duel of the American team's quarterfinals would also take place in Houston, while the semi-finals and the championship match will be played in Miami.
