A's: discussions with the city to extend the lease in Oakland

The Oakland A's file is starting to become more and more nebulous. After all, we don’t even know if the move to Vegas is really going to happen…

In fact, we should expect this to happen. On the other hand, negotiating an agreement for a stadium with the owner of the A's doesn't seem simple.

But that's for 2028. In the meantime, there are still seasons to play.

In 2024, the A's will be in the final year of their lease at the Oakland Coliseum. We do not yet know what awaits the training from 2025 to 2027.

And that’s with the idea that the stadium in Vegas is ready for 2028.

We know that there are many plans for the A's from 2025. They are not all glorious plans and it reminds us of the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL.

But there is a possibility of seeing the club extend its lease for a few seasons, in order to continue playing in Oakland in the meantime. It would be horrible for the fans, but anyway.

The A's leaders will meet with the people of the city of Oakland for this purpose tomorrow.

What you need to know is that the people of Oakland don't want to give charity to the A's. If the lease is extended, there will be advantages.

The city's mayor has already said she wants to keep the “A's” name in Oakland and have the guarantee of having a club again one day to extend the A's lease at the Coliseum.

Is the club desperate enough to sign this? To what extent deal television, paying more in the Bay Area than elsewhere, will make the A's think?

I don't think the A's will stay. In my eyes, the best plan would be to play in their AAA stadium in Vegas.

  • Patrick Sandoval reportedly wanted to keep Shohei Ohtani in Anaheim.
  • Several relievers available in Boston.
