The Brewers and Willy Adames discussed a contract extension

After trading Hunter Renfroe to the Los Angeles Angels, the Milwaukee Brewers have other issues to deal with. Among these is that of Willy Adames, who will become free as the air at the end of the 2024 campaign.

It’s true that time isn’t necessarily pressing for the shortstop, but he wants to stay in Wisconsin.

“I’m always open to hearing what they think, and if it’s something that’s good for both parties, I’m open to that. I let my agent handle it. I love it here, I feel good here, I feel comfortable here and I wish I could stay here for the rest of my career. »

And that’s why the Brewers are busy starting conversations that could lead to a long-term deal. The nature and extent of the negotiations, however, are not known.

The Brewers are known for very often maintaining a modest payroll, but remaining competitive most of the time. Depending on what the 27-year-old wants to put in his bank account, he could prove to be a prime option.

In the event of an impasse in the negotiations soon, the possibility of seeing Adames land under other skies cannot be ruled out. That’s because the Brewers’ 2018 first-round pick Brice Turang is set to make his MLB debut next season.

If Adames becomes available on the trade market, the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, among others, could then enter the fray.
