Red Sox in race to sign Dansby Swanson

The Red Sox are currently dealing with the fact that Xander Bogaerts has moved to California for the next decade. It’s a blow to Boston fans.

For now, it’s likely Trevor Story who is destined to take the reins at shortstop, but could the club find an impact guy elsewhere?

The answer is yes.

According to what circulates, Chaim Bloom would be at the heart of the race to get his hands on the services of Dansby Swanson, whose market is currently interesting.

In fact, there would be a lot of activity around Swanson. The Dodgers, Giants, Twins, Cubs, Red Sox and Braves would be included.

Swanson’s advantage is that he will cost less than Carlos Correa. In his case, we talk a little about the Cubs, but mostly about the Twins and the Giants.

Will seeing multiple players in the race for Swanson’s services drive prices up? That remains to be seen.

But clubs that don’t want to pay $300 million and want a good shortstop in the free agency market currently have only one choice: Swanson. And that he must know.

  • Which players are still available?
