John Schneider will lead a training camp “under the sign of the small details”

For the first time in too long, we were treated this morning to real baseball images. Images from Florida and Arizona flooded my Twitter feed.

What a beautiful moment.

For the Toronto Blue Jays, it’s the start of a new era. Yes, there have been changes on the pitch, but above all it is the first training camp with John Schneider at the helm of the club.

Whoever finished last season as interim manager will therefore have to organize himself so that everything runs smoothly in a season where expectations will be high.

Will it be difficult? Yes of course.

In fact, we already feel that there is an interesting atmosphere within the formation. A guy like Kevin Kiermaier, for example, already seems to be part of the group of boys.

But John Schneider knows it’s going to take some changes. Which?

First, the manager received the gift of a more mature club and a good defense. He knows it’s important in baseball and he’s going to make sure the message is understood.

In fact, he wants guys to be precise with the ball and to take care of the little things, the little details.

Guys will hear about it, word of the manager. Yes, the club has attack, but that’s not all.

It goes through the defense and the quality of the pitchers, but Schneider also wants to see his guys be more aggressive on the trails.

And Bo Bichette is particularly in agreement.

Obviously, this is all built in anticipation of winning games in October. Guys have to learn from their mistakes to start winning in the playoffs.

Alek Manoah, who will not be going to the World Classic to concentrate on his season in the Queen City, has understood the message well. Bichette also seems to have understood this.

Several stars have understood the message, but it also requires depth. Even if the club is relatively complete, there will be injuries and openings during the season.

Nate Pearson is one of those who has to step up and help the club in a small way, but still: there is no small contribution when you have the ball in your hands as a pitcher.

For the first time in its history, the organization will pay the luxury tax. The goal? Strive to win as many matches as possible.

We will see on the ground if the boys got the message.

  • Bo Bichette is happy that his contract is behind him.
  • Twins: All attention is on Carlos Correa’s ankle.
  • Hunter Greene: a name to watch.
  • Christian Vazquez still has friends in Boston.
