Alex Anthopoulos not worried about Braves situation at shortstop

As we all know, Atlanta Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos always finds a way to improve his team, both for the present and for the future.

This is what he did during the offseason, acquiring the services of receiver Sean Murphy and putting him under contract for the next six campaigns.

Despite this fine addition, he remains a question mark at the shortstop position since the departure of Dansby Swanson to the Chicago Cubs. We can therefore expect an internal fight between Orlando Arcia and Vaughn Grissom at the number six position.

And Anthopoulos acknowledges that the concerns may seem legitimate, but he is not worried.

“I can understand how some people might have doubts about Vaughn. I had questions about Vaughn when I first saw him. And I was wrong many times. The difference is we have a guy like Ron Washington who is amazing. We don’t know how Vaughn is going to hit. He must deserve the job. Orlando Arcia can do the job too. But Wash really believes in Vaughn. We also believe in Vaughn, but we’ll choose who we think is the best. »

Despite the doubts hovering at the moment, we can expect that Anthopoulos, surrounded by his team, will make the right decision, as he very often does.

And if Grissom and Arcia do not seem cut out for this role, expect the Montrealer to move on the transaction market to fill this gap. He will not stand idly by.
