NHL: the Stars win in the 5th game of the series against the Wild

The Dallas Stars made the Minnesota Wild’s indiscipline pay where it hurts: on the scoreboard.

The Texas team signed a convincing 4-0 victory over the Wild to take control of the series 3-2. They will have the chance to eliminate their rival Friday in Game 6.

Roope Hintz had three assists in a second straight game and Jake Oettinger stopped 27 pucks for his second career playoff shutout.

Tyler Seguin and Jason Robertson each finished the game with a goal and an assist. Seguin was playing his 100th career game in the playoffs, winning the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in 2011 in his first season in the NHL. He has four power play goals since the start of the match.

“The Wild are one of the clubs that get punished the most. We knew we were going to have our chances,” Stars coach Peter DeBoer said. The goal was to make them pay for their indiscipline. We have succeeded so far and we must continue in the same way. ”

The tone was set following the dangerous contact between the knee of Marcus Foligno and that of Radek Faksa at the start of the first period. The Wild forward was sent off on the streak.

“I was following my route and it was unfortunate the contact that happened,” said Foligno. I wouldn’t (precisely) say it was knee to knee. I can understand there being a penalty, but I don’t think it warranted a game misconduct. ”

On the power play that followed, Seguin pounced on a loose puck in the slot to beat Filip Gustavsson. During another power play midway through the engagement, Robertson flashed the red light with a pinpoint shot.

Mason Marchment was a blow to the Wild’s hopes in the second minute of the middle period. He recovered a throw return from Hintz to make it 3-0.

Ty Dellandrea completed the scoring in an empty net. In the loss, Gustavsson made 21 saves for the Wild, which went 0 for 3 with an opponent in the dungeon.
