Dan Quinn new coach of the Washington Commanders!

Dan Quinn stays in the NFC East, and leaves Dallas for Washington!

It's done ! The latest head coaching vacancy in the NFL appears to have been filled this Thursday. According to NFL Network and ESPN, the Washington Commanders will make Dan Quinn the 31st coach in franchise history.

The choice had almost become inevitable in recent hours, after the appointment of Mike Macdonald as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, and especially the surprise returns of offensive coordinators Ben Johnson (Lions) and Bobby Slowik (Texans) to their respective franchises .

NFL Network specifies that Quinn should arrive in Washington with one of his collaborators from Dallas. Joe Whitt, who was in charge of the Cowboys' defensive backs, is expected to be the defensive coordinator for the Commanders.

Second chance for Dan Quinn

With Quinn, Washington hires a rather well-known coach. The latter has been in charge of the division rival Dallas Cowboys' defense for the past three years, with a drastic transformation in the squad's performance.

Before that, the 53-year-old technician had led the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, with a participation in Super Bowl LI, against the New England Patriots. In six seasons with Atlanta, Quinn has a record of 43 wins and 42 losses.

He also led the Seahawks defense to the title in 2013, against the Denver Broncos.

He succeeds Ron Rivera, who was fired on January 8 after four years at the helm of the Commanders.
