After going to a small game in the World Series and missing the next two games at home, it is now time to take stock for the Philadelphia Phillies following this abrupt end.
And we have to admit that the president of baseball operations for the formation of brotherly love will have his work cut out for him during the next off-season.
The latter will then focus on strengthening his pitching corps, especially in the starting rotation.
This strategy will certainly involve the return of gunner Aaron Nola and the manager knows this all too well.
We like it. He’s been great for the franchise, pitched very well for several years. It’s a Philly. We hope to retain it.
Should the Phillies fail to retain Nola’s services, the focus will shift to adding an impact starting pitcher.
That would be our number one priority, we should replace it. We need to be in a position where we have someone else who would be a quality starting pitcher in the rotation. So yeah, it’s either Aaron or someone else.
Nola won’t be the only one in Dombrowski’s thoughts this winter, however, as the other ace pitcher, Zack Wheeler, will begin the final season of his five-year contract at the start of the 2024 campaign.
Dombrowski also wants to extend the contract of the 30-year-old, who held the fort during the last playoffs, as evidenced by his excellent earned run average of 2.35.
All of this is to say that the next few months will be very busy in Philadelphia.
