Teoscar Hernandez is excited about his new challenge in Seattle

Yesterday, the Blue Jays made the decision to send Teoscar Hernandez to the Seattle Mariners.

For Toronto, this means going to fill the hole left vacant by his departure. The Jays will need to add a good outfielder (Masataka Yoshida or even Brandon Nimmo, for example) to make it work for 2023.

But in Seattle, it’s a slightly more “turnkey” transaction since the departure of Erik Swanson does not create a hole in the Mariners’ excellent bullpen.

And adding such a dynamic hitter like Teo helps a lot.

Obviously, as we saw yesterday, the main interested party is sorry to have had to leave Toronto, a city where he was comfortable. His teammates too, they are sad.

After all, as he said yesterday, it was seeing the Blue Jays coaching staff having confidence in himself that he started playing well.

But OK. Right now, he’s been in Seattle for at least a year (when he becomes a free agent) and it’s a challenge he’s excited about.

He does not think of autonomy: he simply thinks of making his new club win.

In his eyes, the group looks a bit like the one in Toronto. He sees a special team and he knows what guys can do on the ballpark, having been with the Jays when the Mariners won their series last month.

I can’t wait to see what he can do in Seattle in 2023.

  • Is the Aaron Judge file at the heart of illegal communication between the two New York clubs?
  • Shohei Ohtani will be at the World Classic.
  • Justin Verlander is in demand. I see it in the National in New York or Los Angeles, me.
  • If the Braves are to lose Dansby Swanson, they’ll be ready.
