Rhys Hoskins signs two-year contract in Milwaukee

Rhys Hoskins, whose agent is Scott Boras, became a free agent at the wrong time. For what? Because in 2023 he hurt his knee and had surgery. He hasn't played all year.

We said that Boras was going to apply the “Cody Bellinger” formula to his client, or make him sign a short contract elsewhere to allow him to rebuild his value.

And that's what happened. With Bryce Harper moved to first base, we suspected that this was going to happen, that being said.

Hoskins and the Milwaukee Brewers signed a two-year contract valued at $34 million in total, or $17 million per season.

What you need to know is that the contract contains an exit option after the first season of the agreement. He can therefore become a free agent in a year.

If he returns to being the hitter he was before his injury, he will get out of his contract and try to hit the jackpot later. Like Cody Bellinger, who had a mutual option in his agreement in Chicago.

But if Hoskins performs poorly, he will stay in Milwaukee one more year at a good price. So it’s a great contract for the hitter.

It's also for the Brewers, who are sure to get their hands on a prime power hitter…and a guy who's having success in Milwaukee. It’s also part of the Boras recipe.

Under such conditions, expect to see Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames stay in town and not be traded before the start of the season.

It remains to be seen if the other hitters who are free agents will sign soon, now.

  • Reliever Matt Moore is back in Anaheim. The club invested $50 million in its enclosure this winter.
  • Big day for Scott Boras.
  • Will Josh Naylor stay in Cleveland long term?
