JT Realmuto pulls off carousel in Phillies loss

Some Philadelphia Phillies players are underperforming in 2023, resulting in the Pennsylvania squad currently sitting third in the National League East, eight games behind the mighty Atlanta Braves.

We are far from the team that went all the way last year.

Among them is receiver JT Realmuto, who was 0 for 13 in his last four games before starting last night’s (Monday) game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 32-year-old man, however, turned the tide in the defeat of his team by a score of 9-8. Indeed, Realmuto has succeeded in a carousel, thus becoming the 17e receiver in MLB history to achieve the feat and the first since George Kottaras in 2011.

Realmuto kicked off their performance with a solo long ball in the first inning followed by a two-run triple in the third.

He then hit a fifth-inning single, then completed the ninth carousel in Phillies history and the first since David Bell in 2004 with a ninth-inning double. Bell had accomplished his at Citizens Bank Park against the Montreal Expos.

Realmuto’s feat was somewhat overshadowed, however, by the Phillies’ relief sabotaging a four-point lead and the ejection of DBacks manager Torey Lovullo after youngster Corbin Carroll was hit twice by the pitcher Matt Strahm.

The two teams will cross swords once again tonight at 9:40 p.m.
