During the offseason, Carlos Correa came close to committing to play in New York. At what point? So much so that he accepted Steve Cohen’s $315 million offer last winter.
He finally returned to Minnesota under the conditions we know, but good.
During his time on hold, he was seen displaying his love for New York City…and it was no surprise. After all, everyone knows he loves the city.
He would have liked to be offered a contract by the Yankees and he would have accepted a change of position (he accepted a change of position, in fact) to play for the Mets.
Much like his mentor Alex Rodriguez, he would have played third base to go to New York.
And it’s not because he is booed during his visit to the Bronx (the Twins are currently in New York) that he will change his mind: he loves the passion of the fans.
I don’t know what Mets fans think of him after the offseason saga, but Yankees fans do know to dislike him due to the Astros-era signal-stealing scandal.
But it gives gas to the main interested party, in fact.
He loves the New York people’s passion for baseball. He knows that expectations are always higher there, which drive.
I don’t doubt that Correa is fine in Minnesota (ironically A-Rod’s new workplace too), but anyone who played in Houston and wanted to play in San Francisco as well as New York would have been good on a great scene, isn’t it?
- Strange situation in New York.
- It’s going well for Nate Pearson.
