NHL: Ryan Ellis likely won’t play this season

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Flether said Thursday he doesn’t believe defenseman Ryan Ellis will be able to play one this season and that if he does, it will be considered a “bonus.”

Ellis played just four games with the Flyers last season due to a lower-body injury suffered Nov. 13. He was originally expected to miss four to six weeks of activity, but was unable to return to play.

The 31-year-old defenseman was acquired from the Nashville Predators prior to the start of the 2021-22 season in a three-team trade with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Ellis scored 1 goal and 4 assists in his 4 games with the Flyers.

Ellis has 76 goals and 199 assists in 566 games since the start of his career.
