Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott is back

Ezekiel Elliott, his agents and the Cowboys have been tinkering for a few days. This Monday, they made their reunion official.

The Star Telegram reports that the rider signed for one season and $3 million, including $2 million guaranteed. Ezekiel Elliott underwent a medical examination on Monday to finalize the transaction.

Ezekiel Elliott, nostalgia but no guarantees

Fourth overall choice in the 2016 Draft, Ezekiel Elliott offered three seasons with more than 1,300 yards on the ground in Dallas.

But there's a reason he was cut after the 2022 season. That year, he averaged 3.8 yards per carry, with a total of 876 yards gained on the season. In both categories, it was his career worst result.

And things didn't get better for the Patriots in 2023. Not helped by a dying offense, Elliott only gained 642 yards, with an average of 3.5 yards per carry.

The questions at the running position are therefore not necessarily resolved for the Cowboys. Elliott joins Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis, Deuce Vaughn, Snoop Connor, Royce Freeman and undrafted rookie Nathaniel Pete on the roster at the position.
