Chargers – Rams (31-10): Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler, star duo in LA

Los Angeles Chargers (10-6) – Los Angeles Rams (5-11): 31-10

Already qualified for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Chargers honored their new status by easily disposing of the Los Angeles Rams in a match without stake.

For the return of Joey Bosa, the Chargers defense stood out in the second period by allowing no points to the Rams team. The 2nd period seemed to be a formality for Brandon Staley’s men who were able to drive home the point and end a game without suspense in the end.

This will probably allow the Chargers to rest their starters for their last regular season game against the Broncos.

Dominant offensive lines

The first half is an opposition that takes place mainly on the ground. The offensive lines of the 2 teams dominate the defensive lines and this gives more than 100 yards to the race for the 2 teams.

Nevertheless, the airs are not neglected and the 2 teams are inspired in their calls of plays. There are very few errors from the 2 quarterbacks and even sometimes spectacular plays, especially from receivers Van Jefferson (3 REC, 77 YDS) for the Rams and Mike Williams (7 REC, 94 YDS) for the Chargers.

This gives a pleasant first period marked by Austin Ekeler’s double on the ground (10 carries, 122 YDS, 2 TDs) for the Chargers (including 1 touchdown from 72 yards) and 1 for the Rams from running back Malcolm Brown, his first touchdown since 2021 in his Dolphins days although Cam Akers (19 carries, 123 YDS) deserved to be rewarded.

And the errors in all this? They are minimized. On the Chargers side, Justin Herbert commits a fumble caused by Ramsey without consequence while Baker Mayfield (11/19, 132 YDS) concedes only one sack by Morgan Fox.

Scratched attack on the Rams side, tight-end party on the Chargers side

The summary of the Rams’ second period is simple: Bakey Mayfield fumble, punt, punt, punt and game over. Baker Mayfield completes only 3 passes and the ground game is only 50 short yards.

Opposite, the Chargers feast. On the ground, Austin Ekeler made the positive gain and Justin Herbert (21/28, 212 YDS, 2 TDs) finished the job with 2 touchdowns for his tight-ends Gerald Everett and Donald Parham Jr.

The final series will see the appearance of backup Chargers quarterback Chase Daniel who will likely start the final regular season game in place of Herbert in a once again no-stakes game against the Broncos.
