It had been in the air for a week and, during a press conference organized in Indianapolisvenue for the next edition of the All-Star GameTHE commissioner Adam Silver has made it official the return of the “East versus West” formula for its all-star game. A first since 2017.
Clearly, from February 2024, there will no longer be an All-Star Draft, with two captains who composed their squads without taking into account the conferences of each All-Star. Instead, a return to a historic formula, with the best players from the East and West teaming up to try to establish the supremacy of their conference over four quarters of twelve minutes each.
The end of the Elam Ending
This therefore also marks the end of the famous “Elam Ending” system, where the quarters are no longer limited in time because you must instead reach a certain score in order to win. On the other hand, what does not change are the donations to charitable associations, with each quarter-time winner who will raise funds for the association of their choice.
As a reminder, the 2024 All-Star Game will take place on February 18 at the Pacers’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
