Trevor Bauer is (already) talked about for the wrong reasons in Japan

Before being suspended for known reasons and becoming an unattractive player for MLB teams, Trevor Bauer was already a… er… controversial teammate.

We’ll say it like that.

His fiery character and his propensity to film everything he does during practices are two aspects that sometimes meant that he was not exactly the most appreciated.

And since he’s been in Japan, it’s transposed.

Recently, he posted a video of himself celebrating a takedown with a sword gesture. It is his trademark of the moment since he plays in Japan.

But after seeing him post the video, one of his teammates (Yasuaki Yamasaki) responded on Twitter asking him to “not be an idiot” since it is, in his eyes, a lack of respect.

It should be remembered that Japan is one of the most respectful countries on the planet towards other cultures. I don’t know if it’s the gesture that disturbed Yasuaki Yamasaki or if it’s Bauer’s presence in Japan as such that is at the heart of the problem and that creates a situation.

We can however deduce, when he says that it is disrespectful and that there are other ways of doing things, that he is talking about the gesture as such.

But if it was done by another guy, maybe it would be different.

All that to say that after a few weeks in Japan, Bauer has already found a way to get people talking about him for the wrong reasons. Controversy sticks to his skin.

  • The Yankees pitcher is progressing.
  • Bryce Harper will be back tomorrow.
