Shohei Ohtani had surgery: he won’t pitch until 2025

Shohei Ohtani’s clan officially announced that the star went under the knife this morning. The Angels player had elbow pain (torn ligament) as we know.

It was expected, now that his season is over.

The power hitter in him will be able to start hitting again in 2024, as planned. If all goes well, he will even start the season.

But the pitcher will have to wait until the 2025 season. The clubs that want to sign him take it for granted.

No one wanted to confirm the big bad words “Tommy John” to talk about it, but we suspect that’s what he suffered.

Teams looking for a #1 pitcher for 2024 will have to look elsewhere. After all, there are doubts as to whether he will be able to return to health.

He could return to health in 2025 as a big pitcher, but will it be as a #1 pitcher? One may ask.

Details to come…

  • The Jays protect themselves with a catcher on the reserve squad.
  • Is Anthony Volpe that good defensively?
