Julio Urias: the fat free agent no one talks about

This winter, Shohei Ohtani will be the big name among launchers available on the autonomous market. In fact, pitcher or position player, he will be the big player.

It should not be exchanged by then.

What’s interesting is that the Dodgers are the favorites to sign him. It is known that the club made room on its mass during the off-season to prepare.

I fully expect to see him sign in LA this winter.

But if Ohtani does make it to the rookies, will that mean the Dodgers will have enough money to keep Julio Urias?

After all, as Ken Rosenthal said, the last time a top free agent like him went free at 27 was Greg Maddux 31 years ago. Urias had not yet been born.

The pitcher isn’t perfect, but he’s been really dominant for two years. If Ohtani didn’t exist, we wouldn’t talk about him anymore.

After all, even if Urias does not often speak due to Clayton Kershaw being in LAthe young Mexican is dominant.

But let’s project ourselves a year from now. If ever the Dodgers do not sign Ohtani, we can believe that the club will do everything to keep Urias. Will he want to stay? Possibly – if the price is there.

But if Ohtani signs in LA? There he might run out of room on the mace and the other clubs might suddenly go hungry.

The Angels, who reportedly lost Ohtani, could try to keep him in the area. The Padres, if they don’t sign Juan Soto, could add depth to the rotation.

The Mets, who have an old rotation, could also spend.

In fact, as the insider notes, just about any team could be interested in the player because he’s good and in his prime.

It will therefore be to follow.
