Braves: a spectacular comeback to bring the series back to a tie

Before the playoffs started, the Braves were the heavy favorites to win the World Series. The club broke everything during the regular season, and their powerful attack gave reason to believe that the machine was unstoppable.

However, during Game #1 against the Phillies, the Braves had to lose. And with Game #2 tonight, the club couldn’t afford to go on the road facing elimination.

The problem was, on the mound, Zack Wheeler was a fit guy. The Phillies gunner did not allow a single hit during the first five innings, completely muzzling the Braves’ attack.

And offensively, the Phillies helped their starter. After seeing Alec Bohm produce a run in the first inning, JT Realmuto hit a big two-run homer in the third inning.

A Bryson Stott sacrifice fly allowed Nick Castellanos to score in the fifth inning, and suddenly the Braves looked more vulnerable than ever.

On the other hand, at the end of the match, we finally saw the Braves show signs of life. The scoreless game was broken by Ozzie Albies in the sixth inning, and on the same sequence, Ronald Acuna Jr. took advantage of the chaos on the bases to score.

Then, one inning later, Travis d’Arnaud brought life back to his club with a two-run homer. Suddenly, only one point separated the two clubs.

And in the eighth, the Braves’ big attack continued to wreak havoc. With Acuna Jr. on base, Austin Riley came up to bat to face Jeff Hoffman with two outs.

The third baseman’s home run finally gave the Braves a series lead.

Raisel Iglesias came into the game to close the books in the ninth inning, and the closer of the Braves arranged for everything to go smoothly.

Well, let’s say Michael Harris II helped him a bit.

While the Braves looked dead and buried, a big comeback from the club ensured that they won by a score of 5-4 and, at the same time, brought the series back to a tie.

The next game in the series will take place early Wednesday evening (first pitch is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. Quebec time). For the occasion, Aaron Nola will be on the mound for the Phillies, while the identity of the Braves starter is still to be determined.

But one thing is certain: the Braves’ comeback this evening adds a lot of spice to a series that could quickly have become boring. No, it’s not for nothing that Atlanta finished the year at the top of the Major rankings.
