Sean Payton has found his defense coach.
Vance Joseph is back in Denver. After being the head coach there from 2017 to 2018, Joseph returns this time as defensive coordinator. According to Peter Schrager for NFL mediaSean Payton has finally found the man who will lead his defense.
Brilliant with the Dolphins defense in 2016, Joseph was therefore entrusted with the keys to the Broncos truck during the following two seasons where he did not leave a very great memory, ending with a record of 11 wins for 21 losses.
He hasn’t been idle since, spending the last four seasons in Arizona as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator. If his first three years on the side of Glendale were promising, the last was more complicated. With 26.4 points conceded per game in 2022, the Cardinals’ defense was one of the most catastrophic in the league in this exercise, doing barely better than the Bears.
At 50, Vance Joseph therefore returns to Denver with a new opportunity to restore his image. In any case, he will have the equipment for it, with a squad ranked seventh in yards conceded last season.
