WNCAA | Hailey Van Lith strengthens LSU!

After Louisville’s elimination at the gates of the Final Four at “March Madness” last month, Hailey VanLith announced shortly after that was the end of his story with the Cardinals. She had therefore entered the transfer portal, in search of a new destination.

The player did not take long to choose, since she announced this Thursday that she was joining LSU, the reigning champion! Led by their experienced coach Kim Mulkey and their inner star Angel Reese, the Tigers will thus add to their ranks next season one of the very best leaders on the NCAA circuit.

This season, Hailey Van Lith averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. During the NCAA tournament, she had scored a minimum of 20 points in each game.

After three years spent in Louisville, Hailey Van Lith will therefore play her “senior” season at LSU. She is entering her fourth and final year of college, but thanks to the waiver granted by the NCAA due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she could play a fifth season, if she wishes.

LSU big favorite for back-to-back

Last summer, LSU had completely turned its workforce upside down by recruiting 9 new players including Angel Reese, voted best player in the March Madness Final Four. A strategy that paid off as the program won the NCAA title in stride.

This season, Angel Reese has been completely monstrous with averages of 23 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.6 against! With the addition of Hailey Van Lith at the lead, the Tigers are big favorites to their own succession and will be looking to become the first program to retain their title since UConn, which was champion four times in a row between 2013 and 2016. .
