The Pacers explode the Spurs of a clumsy Victor Wembanyama

Despite the “back-to-back” and the extension of the day before, Victor Wembanyama is well behaved with San Antonio for this move in theIndiana.

Travel which does not start as hoped for the Spurstaken by the entrance throat and completely overwhelmed in the face of the offensive fury of the Pacers, whether inside, at 3-points or on free throws. With successful shooting, perfect ball in hand and control on the rebound, the teammates of Myles Turner and Tyrese Haliburton explode the Texan defense, without forcing (44-28).

Indiana’s skill, especially behind the arc, did not come down in the second quarter and Buddy Hield goes all out to put his team at +20. A gap that climbs even further, since Tyrese Haliburton, Aaron Nesmith and all of Rick Carlisle’s shooters are blazing: 14/22 at 3-points! A real correction received by San Antonio, despite Keldon Johnson (14 points) or Zach Collins (10 points) who try to resist as best they can (86-61). Quite simply the record for points for the Indianapolis franchise in a half…

The Pacers’ lead will not go down after the break. Worse: it is increasing despite the efforts of Victor Wembanyama. It must be said that the Spurs can do nothing in the face of the collective striking power of their opponents, orchestrated wonderfully by Tyrese Haliburton who highlights the finishing qualities ofObi Toppin. The suspense therefore no longer exists and the last minutes will be long, very long even (119-87).

Upon arrival, the replacements brought the final score to 152-111 in favor of Indiana, a very (too) easy winner over San Antonio.

TO REMEMBER

“Back-to-back” to forget for Victor Wembanyama. Certainly in double-double, “Wemby” suffered against these Pacers, like ultimately all of his teammates. Not successful in terms of his shot (3/12), he struggled to get going all evening. A meeting to forget therefore, while the very large gap will at least have allowed him to rest throughout the fourth quarter. A blessing in disguise, especially after its 38 minutes the day before.

A 900th victory for Rick Carlisle and a franchise record for Indiana. This demonstration saw the Pacers coach record the 900th victory of his career in the regular season, which makes him only the 14th coach to reach this total. As for his team, it equals its record for points in a match with 152 units. A record set in May 2021, against the Thunder.

TOP/FLOP

Indiana’s attack. With the brilliant Tyrese Haliburton at the helm, these Pacers are capable of dynamiting any defense, especially that of the Spurs, much too weak for them. With 44, 42, 33 then 33 points scored in each quarter, Rick Carlisle’s men calmly recited their lines. This is evidenced by some of their stats: 58% shooting, including 53% from 3-point range (20 baskets), 96% from free throws, 38 assists and even 34 points on the counter-attack…

⛔️ San Antonio. Nothing positive to remember for Gregg Popovich’s men, corrected from start to finish and who had apparently left their defense at home. Perhaps because of legs that are too heavy, due to the length of the city, but above all because of a blatant lack of desire. Unrecognizable, the Spurs delivered their worst match of the season and the learning continues for this young team, which must understand that it cannot afford to offer such content, under penalty of taking a historical suitcase (or almost).
