And suddenly Giannis Antetokounmpo got angry! While the Mavericks had taken an 11-point lead at the start of the last quarter, the Bucks will revolt, and it is Giannis who will multiply the penetrations to put the Dallas defense on their heels. In one minute, the Bucks sign an 8-0 to equalize (94-94). Everything is to be redone for the Mavericks.
The audience is on their feet for the last six minutes, and every basket is worth gold. Like this 3-point Pat Connaughton to give the advantage to Milwaukee (97-95). Giannis and Luka Doncic answer each other tac-au-tac and at the start of “money time”, Khris Middleton gives a 3-point lead (104-101), but Spencer Dinwiddie and Doncic go to challenge Brook Lopez and score (105-104). Behind, Middleton misses his shot, then fouls Dorian Finney-Smith. The winger can give a three-point lead with 10 seconds remaining but he misses his shots!
Time-out for the Bucks. Giannis is no longer there, and the system is for… Lopez who is going to score in the backdoor! Milwaukee regains the lead two seconds from the siren. The ball for Dallas, and obviously the system is for Luka Doncic. The Slovenian grumbles even before the throw-in as if he was not satisfied with the system. And his nine-yard shot turns into a brick… Milwaukee wins 106-105, and the Mavericks can only blame themselves!
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
Luka Doncic’s poster dunk. In a one-sided 3rd quarter, Doncic offered himself his best career dunk with a posterization of Jrue Holiday.
Mavericks free throws. In Nick Anderson mode, the Mavericks have missed their last eight free throws! The reasons for their defeat need not be sought any further. Over the whole match, Doncic’s teammates finished at 42% in free throws with 10 out of 24. The most important are undoubtedly Tim Hardaway Jr’s three misses when he had just caused Giannis’ 6th foul .
The winning system. Giannis on the bench with six fouls, it was thought the last system would be for Middleton. We find him in the center of the racket in motion, but he is the one who traps the Dallas defense by making a screen for Lopez who finds himself alone under the basket!
TOPS/FLOPS
✅⛔ Luka Doncic. He was still sparkling with his brilliant passes, his complicated baskets and his “poster dunk” which made all of Dallas vibrate. But difficult to forgive him for his 4 out of 10 in free throws.
✅ Giannis Antetokounmpo. For the first time in three weeks, he did not reach the 30 point mark, and he left the field with six fouls at the start of “money time”, but… it was he who sounded the revolt in the 4th quarter by constantly attacking the defense. A real undermining job.
✅⛔ Brook Lopez. He only scored one basket, but it was the most important of the match! Before that, he had been the scapegoat of the Mavericks who had targeted him in the “money time”.
⛔ Jason Kidd. His management of the end of the match is catastrophic. With seven seconds left to play, he takes five seconds to request a time-out! Then his system for the winning shot is completely failed. Luka Doncic was furious with him.
