On February 7, LeBron James entered a little more in the history of his sport by breaking the record of points scored in the regular season by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), which dated from April 5, 1984. A performance which earned him an ESPY Award nomination for the record of the year trophy.

Three other heavyweight athletes are in the running for this award. First Novak Djokovic, the Serbian having won his 23rd Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, to overtake Rafael Nadal to be the sole holder of the most Grand Slam trophies in the history of men’s tennis.

Finally, Max Verstappen, the Formula 1 driver, broke the record for the number of victories in a season by winning his 14th victory at the Mexican Grand Prix last October. The winner will be announced during the ceremony which will take place on July 12.
