Born in Belgium and spotted in Cameroon, Yves Missi signs up for the Draft

It's a beautiful story like we sometimes read in the NBA, that ofYves Missi (19 years old, 2m12), born in Belgium in 2005 but who grew up in Cameroon. First passionate about football during his childhood, he finally turned to basketball at 16 and has progressed at a crazy pace ever since.

It was on the occasion of the “Why Not Me” basketball camp organized in 2019 in Yaoundé by the agent Bouna Ndiaye that Yves Missi was spotted. At the age of 16, he moved to the United States to take up basketball.

“It was one of my first contacts with basketball”, he revealed when formalizing his candidacy for the Draft. “I plan to enter the 2024 NBA Draft and look forward to the process. I'm hiring Wasserman as my agent and I'm all in! “.

Great athletic potential

A beautiful story which is reminiscent of that of a certain… Joel Embiidpivot like him, also Cameroonian and who discovered basketball late after having favored football.

At Baylor during his freshman season (10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks), Yves Missi displayed mobility for his size, his efficiency and his deterrence near the circle. His athletic potential is something to attract, he who led the Big 12 with 63 dunks and a big defensive impact.

“NBA teams will be able to see during the pre-Draft process how quickly I learn, especially since I'm 'new' to the business. They’ll see my ability to shoot and handle the ball, which they haven’t necessarily seen this year.”

His first objective will be to secure his place in the first round of the next Draft which will take place over two days for the first time this year.
