This afternoon, the Minnesota Twins received a visit from the Houston Astros on the sidelines of the third game of a five-game series.
With the series tied 1-1, the chance was good for the Twins to take advantage of home field advantage to ensure they took the lead in good fashion.
It started well for the Twins… before the game.
Johan Santana, who saw Pablo Lopez wearing his jersey at the start of the playoffs, returned the favor by wearing the current player’s jersey. Well done.
That said, once the match started, things got worse. Sonny Gray escaped in the first inning giving four runs. It started with an RBI from Kyle Tucker.
Then, still in the first, Jose Abreu helped redeem (a little) his season by hitting a three-run homer. So it became 4-0.
On the other side, Cristian Javier was in good form. With two runners in scoring position, he braked Royce Lewis and Carlos Correa in quick succession. Anyway.
Alex Bregman, a few innings later, helped his starter with a solo homer, keeping the crowd quiet with a 5-0 mark.
Afterwards, the Astros were never really worried. They added several points to the scoreboard and we will agree that no, the Twins’ small point did not make the difference.
The Twins had no answer against Jose Abreu…and they should stop throwing quality shots at Yordan Alvarez.
Final score: 9-1 Houston. The Astros (one game away from another championship series) therefore lead the series two games to one. The Twins, for the first time in the series, therefore face elimination.
If the Orioles win tonight and stay alive, the Twins game will be at 2 p.m. To be continued, therefore.
