Rangers: it’s up to Corey Seager to get his team to safety

Last night, when the Texas Rangers won their second game of the World Series, we felt they paid dearly. For what?

Because Max Scherzer, who was riding well yesterday, and Adolis Garcia, who is on fire, were injured. We can also think that the Scherzer series are possibly over.

Garcia’s case is more nebulous. He passed tests and we could see him again during the series. Nothing is official though, obviously.

And even if he comes back, will he still be 100%? After all, he really looked like he was in pain.

We agree that since the start of the series (especially since the one against Houston, in fact), it is he who has put the club on his shoulders.

And there, metaphorically, his body has just sent him a message: the club is heavy to carry alone. Go get help.

Obviously, it is to Corey Seager that he must turn. I would add Marcus Semien, but he’s been sleeping for a month.

It was Seager who was signed at a big price to change the course of the franchise. He is the one who won a World Series MVP in 2020 and he is the one who must guide his people.

Obviously, when we talk about getting up, we are talking offensively. And everyone agrees that he has been doing it since the start of the series.

But getting up is more than that. It goes through all aspects of the game, including saving his pitcher with a big defensive play at a key moment. And he is capable of that too.

This can involve relaxing his teammates in the locker room through his experience. Because no, Seager is not at his first World Series barbecue: he must not be more stressed than the others.

For now, there’s nothing to say against Seager, who could be the World Series MVP if he continues like this. But for that, the Rangers must win two more… thanks to him.

Note also that if he wins the title of MVP of the World Series, he will join Reggie Jackson, Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax among the guys who have won it at least twice in their career.

Nothing too serious, eh?

  • Should MLB put more emphasis on starters?
  • Derek Jeter supports Aaron Judge, who won the Roberto Clemente for his community involvement.
