The situation surrounding the Oakland A’s has sadly taken a new step which makes this saga even more ridiculous.
Indeed, in their most recent home streak against the New York Mets, incidentally swept up in New York, the Mets broadcast team was unable to do their job properly. Why then, will you tell me? Because in the Oakland Coliseum visiting crew’s broadcast booth lives a wild animal. A possum, more precisely.
The opossum has taken up residence there since the end of last season. However, obviously, no one had the simple idea of calling an exterminator. Fascinating, the same!
The league must resolve the situation
It’s written in the sky that the A’s will be moving soon. Almost everyone has accepted the situation, even the supporters who are no longer there. On the other hand, the fact remains that as of today, the A’s, which were once a prestigious franchise, play in Oakland within the MLB and there are norms and standards to be respected.
It’s not normal for broadcast teams to come into their workplace and find that there is animal excrement everywhere. It is unsanitary and dangerous. The broadcast team for the Angels, who opened their season in Oakland, saw the beast make an appearance mid-game. That’s quite confusing, thank you!
Although the opossum is considered a non-dangerous animal for humans, remains that the safety of workers is at stake. The Mets could not perform their work in the broadcast booth, of course, and had to temporarily build a kind of shelter elsewhere in the stadium. A dugout whose match descriptor had his view obstructed by a pole directly in front of him. We are talking about an MLB game, a league with more than a century of history. Frankly, the joke has to stop.
A vaudeville
Certainly, the situation must be settled, first of the opossum, and then of the A’s in general. The stadium has reached the maximum of its life expectancy in the state it is. It’s time to put it down and build a new one or move the team. What’s next, falling balconies?
I can’t imagine that the A’s will play for more years at this stadium. There are other stadiums in America ready to host a team. The MLB and the governors must imperatively look into the file, because it is a real laughingstock.
