This Thursday, the NFL Honors will make it possible to distinguish those who have marked the NFL season which is coming to an end.
In the drafting of ADDV too, the vote took place. Twenty members of the editorial staff participated in the ballot. As a reminder, NFL Honors winners are only decided on the performance of the regular season. Official votes are made before the playoffs.
Here are the big winners in the editorial staff! Last year, we had not fallen too far.
MVP: Josh Allen (QB, Bills) – 12 votes
Stats 2024: 63.6% of completed passes, 28 touchdowns, 6 interceptions – 102 races for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns
He still hasn't reached the Super Bowl, but will Josh Allen console himself with the MVP trophy? This is in any case the trend here. The Bills quarterback is ahead of Lamar Jackson. Probably because it is perceived that the overall workforce of the Bills would be weaker, and that Allen carried all these beautiful people around 13 victories, when he had lost his number one receiver during the offseason.
The statistics of Josh Allen at the pass did not send each other, but he reduced his waste, with only 6 interceptions in 2024 against 18 last year. The Buffalo Player franchise between more than ever in its best years.
Also received votes: Lamar Jackson (7), Saquon Barkley (1)
Coach of the year: Kevin O'Connell (Vikings) – 9 votes
Dan Campbell definitely does not do it. Like last year, he is the dolphin of our votes. This time, he must give way to Kevin O'Connell. It must be said that the Vikings were one of the huge surprises of the season.
Who could predict (in good faith), which Minnesota was going to do better by replacing Kirk Cousins with Sam Darnold. If everything collapsed a little at the end, the level displayed by the violets for a good part of the year was still more than surprising.
Also received votes: Dan Campbell (7), Sean Payton (2), Dan Quinn (2)
Attacking player of the year: Saquon Barkley (RB, Eagles) – 15 votes
Stats 2024: 345 races for 2005 Yards and 13 TouchDowns – 33 RIA, 278 yards and 2 tds
Going exceeding the 2000 yards on the ground does not allow you to win a MVP title. But that should be enough for the attacking player of the year. There is not really any departure. Arrived from New York during the offseason, Saquon Barkley gave a new dimension to the Eagles floor game.
Finally surrounded by serious teammates, the runner was able to dismantle the full extent of his immense talent. The proof that American football is a collective sport, but the proof also that the hopes placed in Barkley after its university course were not a fad.
Hard for Ja'marr Chase, who won the triple crown, dominating the league both on the number of receptions, the yards won in the air and the touchdowns at the reception. But he came across a large bark.
Have also received votes: Ja'Marr Chase (4), Josh Allen (1)
Defensive player of the year: Patrick Supéain (CB, Broncos) – 16 votes
Stats 2024: 16 games, 45 tackles, 4 interceptions (1 td), 1 fumble forced, 1 fumble covered
If the Broncos have managed a surprising year, it is not only because Sean Payton has managed to supervise the progression of Bo Nix. It is also because their defense was solid, led by Patrick Supéain.
Author of 4 interceptions in 16 games, the cornerback obtained the second selection of his career in the first All Pro team. He is today one of the rare cornerbacks really feared in the league.
Also received votes: Myles Garrett (2), TJ Watt (1), Andrew Van Ginkel (1)
Offensive rookie of the year: Jayden Daniels (QB, commanders) – 18 votes
Stats 2024: 17 games, 69.0% of completed passes, 3568 yards, 25 touchdowns, 9 interceptions – 148 races for 891 yards and 6 touchdowns
The player “better elected” of this vote. Without too much surprise. The third choice of the last draft led the Washington rebirth. Well helped by Dan Quinn's coaching and the attacking coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Daniels shone, being comfortable in decisive moments.
Brock Bowers may have broken shovel records for a rookie with 112 receptions and 1194 yards, difficult to compete with the weight that a quarterback can have in the destiny of a team. Because Daniels' commanders won 12 games and reached the playoffs.
Have also received votes: Brock Bowers (2)
Defensive rookie of the year: Jared Pours (DT, RAMS) – 10 votes
Stats 2024: 17 games, 4.5 Sacks, 66 tackles, 2 diverted passes, 2 fumbles forced
At the start of the season, the Rams seemed to have a huge problem of succession in defense with the retirement of Aaron Donald. About ten months later, there are no more fears aside from the ball.
Jared Pours has filled the void brilliantly, even if it is still far from the level of the Hall of Famer. But Pours led a young and talented defense, in power over the matches.
Also received votes: Quinon Mitchell (5), Edgerinn Cooper (5), Kamari Lassiter (1)
Comeback of the year: Sam Darnold (QB, Vikings) – 15 votes
Stats 2024: 66.2% of completed passes, 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, 12 interceptions
Kevin O'Connell would he succeed in relaunching Sam Darnold. The bet seemed a little crazy for the player who passed by the jets, panthers and 49ers. But the craziest thing is that it happened. Darnold launched 35 touchdowns for 12 interceptions. And above all, his Vikings won 14 games.
Completely unimaginable. As with his coach, the end of the season was less good, but the Renaissance remains remarkable.
Also received votes: Joe Burrow (1), Damar Hamlin (1), Christian Gonzalez (1), JK Dobbins (1)
Assistant coach of the year: Ben Johnson (attacking coordinator, Lions) – 10 votes
It is not for nothing that all the teams looking for a coach wanted to meet him. Ben Johnson was the fashionable name this year after a big season with the Lions.
Detroit finished the campaign in first place on the points scored and the second on the won yards. With some explosive evenings.
All this with Jared Goff at the controls. Admittedly, the former Rams has progressed well over the years, but Johnson has also had his share in his success.
Also received votes: Brian Flores (4), Steve Spagnuolo (4), Vic Fangio (1), Vance Joseph (1)
