De'aron fox, a'ja wilson and now Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ! Under contract with Converse, the OKC leader will also be entitled to his signature shoe. As he is used to, SGA took everyone in speed since after having revealed his very first personalized model this week, the Shai 001, he should officially wear it this Sunday for the All-Star Game!
As for the pair, we already discover the “SGA” logo that appears on a tongue and the heel. His design was particularly sought after, with the contours of a 2, his number at OKC, but also of another 2 reversed in the blink of an eye at number 22 which he wore in Kentucky. Beyond the figures, he explains that it symbolizes his personality.
“For me, it's as if there were two sides in me. There is the basketball player and the artist. This is how I see it ”,, he added. “There are two sides in me, as a person. I have a calm side and an exuberant, funny side … There are always two sides in me ”.
SGA in artistic director
As for the design of the rod, as is the case on the field, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (almost) took care of everything. As the leader is also clever pencil in hand, and this from an early age, he shared his sketches. Stephen Keating, principal director of creation at Converse even talks about a “Very talented designer” !
“I got to a point where I made sketches, I put them together and I created something. I love the result “said SGA. “I continued to work until I arrive at a product that I like and I find it presentable”.
The stem opts for a sleek and futuristic effect. The zip can be emphasized to cover the laces and substantial padding around the pass as the main specificities. We would also find an air bubble at the sole. For Stephen Keating, the characteristics of the Shai 001 are: “Comfort, sustainability, maintenance and above all, style”.
We should therefore go on a first color with mustard tones for the great ceremony of the All-Star Game! Then remains to know its price and its official release date for the general public. Converse would consider it for spring!
