We know: the Rockets and the Nets discussed a transfer centered around Mikal Bridges during January and, two months later, Shams Charania teaches us that Jalen Green was notably proposed in return by Houston, with several rounds of Draft in the balance. An offer ultimately refused by Brooklynwho was not a salesman at the time.
The timing of this revelation is obviously not trivial, since Jalen Green is hitting the screen, just as much as the Rockets (eight consecutive victories, with 29.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists from behind), while Mikal Bridges is just as much in difficulty as the Nets (six consecutive defeats, with 15.8 points at 38% skill from the winger).
A Brooklyn mistake?
From now on, the market value of Jalen Green seems to have increased significantly, while that of Mikal Bridges seems to have decreased significantly. This does not guarantee that Houston will return to the charge, but it may raise questions about the choice of New York leaders, whose (re)construction does not seem ideal since they have transferred all their first rounds of Draft 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 to… Rockets.
Note, however, that these same Rockets are facing their own problems since Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun will be eligible for a contract extension during the summer. Will they continue to rely on them in the future, as the former explodes when the latter is injured? This will undoubtedly give their “front office” pause…
