Still no retirement for Larry Brown

After resigning in December for health reasons from his position as “special adviser” to Penny Hardaway in Memphis, it was thought that Larry Brown was going to enjoy a peaceful retirement with his family. But at 82, the former Kansas and Pistons coach has not yet finished coaching since The Athletic announces that he will join the staff of the University of Washington to support Mike Hopkins.

The only coach to have won in the NBA and NCAA, Brown is a coaching legend, and this former playmaker, Olympic champion in 1964 with the United States, started on the benches in ABA, in 1973, as coach of the Cougars of Carolina. A franchise which, for the record, will become the Denver Nuggets…

In 50 years, he has known 16 different teams, and we obviously remember his stints at the Pacers with Reggie Miller, at the Sixers with Allen Iverson, at the Spurs with Gregg Popovich as an assistant, or even at the Pistons with this title won in 2004. Conversely, we will gladly forget his failures at the Knicks or the Bobcats… or at the head of Team USA.
