Steve Kerr calls Germany ‘probably the best team in the tournament’

After their (easy) victory against Italy, the United States will therefore challenge Dennis Schröder’s Germany in the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup. leader completely missing out on the game, but Gordon Herbert’s team held on thanks to their collective.

“Playing at a high level, playing with a lot of strength and aggression, like the other night, that’s what it will take to beat Germany” details Steve Kerr on the recipe to follow tomorrow, at 2:40 p.m. “They’re really good, and they’re probably the best team in the tournament. I don’t think they’ve lost anything so far (Germany is indeed the last undefeated team in the competition). They are connected, very well trained, they have continuity and it is a very strong and physical team”.

Franz Wagner’s return to business complicates things even more for Team USA…

Anthony Edwards’ talent for making a difference?

“We have a lot of videos from the last two years so we know how good he is, how versatile he is and he played very, very well last night against Latvia”confirms Steve Kerr, when asked about the Orlando winger. “We know his game, our guys know him and we know we have to be prepared and ready for him and their whole team because he’s really, really good.”

As a good disciple of Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr took advantage of the break between quarters and halfbacks to show his players the American Cemetery in Manila, where more than 16,000 American soldiers who lost their lives in the Pacific were buried, during of World War II.

As for the match itself, the Warriors technician is particularly counting on the talent of Anthony Edwards to make the difference and take the United States to the final.

“You know he’s one of the most talented players on the planet but he’s still very young. So it’s a big challenge for him and I told him about this challenge which is knowing when to attack, when to pass because we will need both. The last time we played against Germany (in preparation) we completely took control of the game, but as you saw the other night when we push the ball, whether it’s him or not whoever else, we’re really, really good”.
