Adidas has been on the rise lately, between the success of Donovan Mitchell With Cleveland which made it possible to highlight its Donue Done #6, and the hype generated around the Harden Vol. 9. The release of the very first signature shoe ofAnthony Edwardsthe AE 1, is clearly not foreign to the return in grace of the brand with three bands.
The German equipment supplier has bet on a future power in power with “Ant-Man”, which will be one of the strong faces of the NBA in the next ten years, and had to show up to lay the basics of a long series.
The result was at the rendezvous with this futuristic design which is illustrated by this large side cage in TPU, and technical characteristics which perfectly stick to the needs of an Anthony Edwards, in terms of explosiveness and adhesion in particular.
The model is rather complete level performance, sold at a reasonable price, and is also available in low version to offer even more freedom of movement of the foot.
General comfort
The AE 1 Low is worrying without worry, with a well -adjusted size. Remember to lace until the last eye to gain maintenance, especially on the low version. The upper part of the pass is well padded, supplemented by a fairly classic tab.
Comfort is not the element that stands first once on the feet. We are above all on a dynamic model, supposed to suit the most explosive profiles. Contrary to what one might think at first, the TPU cage still offers good ventilation.

Cushioning
Adidas did not particularly innovate for the composition of the sole of the AE 1 Low, with a “boost” foam coupled with a cushioning “Lightstrike”, an association found on the Harden Vol. 9 or lady 10.
The cushioning is good but the emphasis is put on the dynamism of the rebound like an Anthony Edwards needs it to take off or gain speed its direct opponent on his first support.

TRACTION
One of the strengths of the pair, which found a good mix in the covering of the rubber outsole, slightly curved to allow each support to perfectly marry the ground.
Adherence level, the shoe hangs extraordinarily well with chevron patterns that make the job perfectly. Ideal for explosive front departures, as on the Giannis Freak or the GT Hustle 3.

Maintenance and stability
We expected that the maintenance was one of the strengths of this AE 1, with this TPU cage which was going to come to “secure” the foot. Even well labeled, we do not feel more specific on this point. The idea remains to offer freedom of movement of the foot, to print the best support on the ground.
It's a bit like the ankle level, even if the effect is accentuated on this low version, on which the maintenance at the heel is also very light despite the presence of a plastic structure inside.
Stability level, it can be emphasized that there is not really a special device or contours on the side parts of the sole. Stability remains rather good.

Finishes and lifespan
Clearly, the design of this first signature shoe by Anthony Edwards is a success. Apported to an upper part in mesh, the lateral TPU cage in the “hive alveoles” style immediately jumps to the eyes. In a futuristic global style, the whole sticks well to the superstar of the Wolves, which already embodies the present but also the future of the NBA.
The three bands are present on the heel, and the player's logo appears on the tongue. And that's about it. Adidas has multiplied the two -color versions to ensure its promotion, with in particular 7 colors of the low model available on basket4ballers.
Not much to emphasize with regard to the lifespan, which will evolve according to the use of each. The stem seems rather solid and the possible erosion of the TPU cage will not alter the quality of the shoe on the technical level. A TPU reinforcement is also present on the front of the foot to deal with possible wear.

Verdict of the AE 1
The release of a new signature line is always a big issue for the players concerned but also for their equipment manufacturers, invited to innovate while remaining irreproachable level performance. In this sense, Adidas succeeded in having been able to create a strong identity for the first signature shoe of Anthony Edwards.
The model fits perfectly with the technical characteristics of the player, which needs freedom of movement and a shoe capable of accompanying its most explosive supports, with a sole focused on dynamism and responsiveness. The other strong point of the AE 1 is that the pair hangs on both the ground and the eye. His singular design with futuristic curves thus allowed him to stand out immediately on the market.
Sold at an affordable price (110 euros for the LOW model), the AE 1 has all the advantages to allow this new line to settle in the landscape of the “signature” of the League.
