On fire behind the 3-PTS line, the Suns catch up with the Kings a little

After two defeats in a row, the Suns recover in the right direction by pushing Kings (122-106) which, themselves, underwent a fourth loss of rank. This broad success was marked by a huge long distance address with which Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Tyus Jones all three reached or exceeded the 20 points mark.

A meeting with the many “runs” better started by the locals who signed an 11-0 in a few possessions, at the end of the first quarter, behind the long distance address of Tyus Jones and Royce O'Naale to fly away for the first time (36-22). This gap was gradually erased by holders opposite, all at 12 or more points.

Less involved in the “scoring”, Domantas Sabonis, who returned after two weeks of absence, turned the shop by signing his 9th triple-double of the season (12 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds). At the break, everything was almost to be redone for the locals (62-57).

And as at the end of the first quarter, the Suns finished this 3rd period strongly. Collin Gillespie intercepted a ball, then it was circulating well to finish in the hands of Royce O'Neale 3-point. The same Gillespie was then rewarded for his shot behind the arc. Various passes to free throws then allowed Phoenix to get backwards (97-82).

A 7-0 conceded from the start of the 4th quarter would kill Kings' last hopes, perhaps worn out of their trip from the day before to San Francisco.

What to remember

The big 3-point gap. With more than 38% success behind the arc on the season, the Suns are one of the most dangerous teams in the 3-point league. This match was a good demonstration of this danger with 24 award -winning converted baskets (24/43 or 56%), a season record for a unit of their franchise record. With its 6/6, Tyus Jones was the most impressive, while the three members of the “Big Three” all have written 4 award -winning baskets. The Kings were much less at the party like Malik Monk 0/8, who fueled a sad 8/32 from afar. Paradoxically, Demar Derozan, not the most comfortable at 3-point, finished with the best ratio (3/5) of his team.

Mason Plumlee still expelled! “Funny” sequence for the Suns pivot in the middle of the third quarter. When he had just intercepted a ball and ending up a solo dunk, his only basket in the match, he chained with a bad gesture on Domantas Sabonis: a stroke of the throat to protect a rebound. The referees saw the images and sanctioned it with a blatant level 2 fault, synonymous with expulsion. The second in a row after his wrestling scene with Steven Adams in the previous match. With 11 points and 6 rebounds in 32 minutes, Oso Ighodaro responded again in relay.

A “good” operation in the classification. Even if everyone's positioning did not evolve after this basketball night, the Suns had the good idea to win against one of the teams they are pursuing, the evening when the MAVs have also lost. Still 11th to the west, the players of Arizona (31V-36D) are thus similar to the Texans (33V-35D) and the Californians (33V-33D) in front of them.
