Jimmy Butler’s salutary getaway

Jimmy Butler was careful not to tell the media what he was going to do to find the right path, after Game 1 lost by Miami in Denver, at the start of the NBA Finals. While he had indicated on Saturday that he wanted to clear his head by doing “normal things”he had even slipped wanting to make an “Escape Game”!

A few hours later, it was not in an “Escape Game” that Jimmy Butler forgot his bad Game 1, but in a gymnasium at the University of Colorado, where his personal trainer, Chris Brickley, was waiting for him.

The objective of this additional session? Regain confidence in his touch and his attacking play at mid-range.

“He just likes to understand things. When he puts in those little shots, everything is different. We therefore worked on this point. He needed to see the ball go in. The matches where he didn’t do it before, he didn’t play well. He is very attached to that. It’s a question of the mind.” pointed out Chris Brickley to ESPN.

The small shots that make the big wins

For the good of his body and his mind, Jimmy Butler therefore inflicted this additional training on himself, and was able to reap the benefits in Game 2. If he still had waste (7/19 in shooting) , he was much more aggressive, especially to get shots in the paint and cause fouls that brought him five times on the line, he who had not obtained any free throws in Game 1!

His line of stats was not necessarily extraordinary (21 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists in 40 minutes), but Jimmy Butler could savor the victory but also the return of confidence in the ranks of the Heat, also symbolically carried by his shooters, for whom confidence is the first fuel.

“We’re so focused on what we do well and who we are as a band that that’s what we rely on. Whether we make shots or miss shots, we will stay the way we are because we don’t care about anyone else. It’s been like this since the start of the year and it won’t change.”said “Jimmy Buckets” after Game 2.VSwas just part of the game. A lot of teams, especially theirs, have big shooters. And like I said, that’s fine with us. We know what we are capable of, causing stops, shooting too, and we had the opportunity to tip the match in our favor to clinch an away victory”.

And as since the start of the season and these playoffs, the Heat will not be intoxicated by this first success in Denver, and will stick to its course of action until the end, for the future.

“I will continue to play basketball as much as I can, create for others, score when I have the opportunity, and above all, find a way to win. That’s what we did on Game 2 as a group, and we’re going to continue doing it as a group.”, did he conclude.
