The failure in the playoffs and the recent pressure attacks from Giannis Antetokounmpo ended up convincing the leaders of the Bucks that it was necessary to shake up the team. First there was the arrival of a rookie coach, Adrian Griffin, to replace Mike Budenholzer, then the opportunity to recover Damian Lillard even if it was necessary to part ways with Jrue Holiday.
Co-owner of the Bucks, Wes Edens believes that his management has done a good job in meeting the demands of his “franchise player” and increasing his team’s chances of winning another title.
“Giannis and the owners are exactly on the same page, which is that we are all really focused on winning,” did he declare. “His comments were mostly about making sure he’s in the best possible position to compete for a title while he’s at the peak of his basketball. Of course, we could only agree with that, and we did our best to ensure that the team had the best chance of being competitive and winning.”
Does Milwaukee have a better chance of winning the title?
We had to weigh the pros and cons, but the leaders of Milwaukee made the choice to add a little new blood, even if it meant parting with Jrue Holiday but also Grayson Allen. All while giving the keys to this big engine to a rookie coach.
“The coaching change was made because we thought it was best for the organization. As for the possibility of trading two very good basketball players for Damian Lillard, that was an important decision,” he added. “We’re just trying to do our best to give ourselves the best chance of winning titles and I don’t have a problem with that.”
While waiting for the truth on the ground, Wes Edens has reason to be confident in negotiating the extension of Giannis Antetokounmpo next summer.
“At the end of the day, he’s committed to being here and being part of a winning team, and we’re committed to Giannis, so we’ll see how it all plays out.”he concluded.
