Ayo Dosunmu still feels indebted to Chicago

Faced with a Lonzo Ball who has been sidelined since January 2022, who will not play next season and whose rest of his career is written in dotted lines, the Bulls extended Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu, in addition to bringing in Jevon Carter, this summer.

The Bulls thus have several options for the position of playmaker and the competition will be tough. Dosunmu, who notably took over from Ball in 2021/2022, is aware of this.

“I want to fight for my place”, does he announce to The Athletic. “Anyone who says they don’t want to start is not telling the truth. We’ll see how things go during the training camp. I will make my way, that I can say. I always find a way, so I’ll keep it that way. »

A 3rd year specialist

Interesting during his rookie season, the Chicago native confirmed in his second year, but without really progressing. Now that he’s signed a three-year, $21 million deal, he needs to step it up a notch.

“I just try to learn from my mistakes. I had success in my first season, then I stagnated a bit, with some difficulties, in the second. My third years, in high school or college, were always my best. I’m excited and ready for it. »

Finally, this extension in Chicago is good news for the player since he stays at home and can continue to work with the inhabitants of the city, as during a small basketball camp organized this summer in the company of 120 young people.

“Whether or not I continue with the Bulls, I stay from Chicago. So I always want to give back to this city, which raised me. Obviously, re-signing with the Bulls makes things smoother. I am one of the few players who have been drafted where they were born, it’s a huge opportunity, but they are also responsibilities. It’s a dream for me and I love to give back. I do my best. »
