Alperen Sengun and the Rockets have fun facing the Pelicans

Faced with a new Orleans formation still decreased, in the absence of Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones and Bruce Brown, Houston quickly took over. It was an 11-4 that allowed the premises to create the first gap, a series marked by the characteristic aggressiveness of Amen Thompson, and the Dunks of the Eason-Sengun pair (24-13). The 3-point of CJ McCollum, the two of Jordan Hawkins and the convincing entry of Jose Alvarado only delayed the deadline.

Alperen Sengun finished strong to conclude the first act, with a big dunk then a new basket after an offensive rebound just before the buzzer to bring the brand to 39-28. The two 3-point baskets from Aaron Holiday brought the premises closer to the 20 points apart (51-33), but the Pelicans were able to go up the slope, boosted by a big passage from Jose Alvarado, precious to the finish or the pass to make his teammates shine.

Trey Murphy III even managed to repeat New Orleans under 10 points apart (64-55). Houston then found the right to take the way before the break, through Amen Thompson, the block of Alperen Sengun on Kelly Olynyk and 3-point baskets signed Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks (74-58).

Houston managed to make his evening opponent crack for good on the return from the locker room, taking the best thanks to the strength of his collective, between the 3 points of Aaron Holiday, Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr, and the maestria of Alperen Sengun who was a Tomar on Kelly Olynyk and two passes in the back to shine Tari Eason and amen. The Rockets finished the third quarter with a 16-4 to definitively distance its distances (109-83), then leaving it to Dillon Brooks to put a last layer with two arrows from afar and Dunk in counterattack to offer 36 lengths in advance to the Rockets (129-93).

The evening would have been perfect if Amen Thompson did not twist the right ankle when the match was played. An unforeseen event that encouraged Ime Udoka to open his bench for the last minutes, until the end of the match for a final success (146-117)

What to remember

– Rockets find colors. Not at best lately, the Texans have taken advantage of this double confrontation against New Orleans to find the going. On this match, beyond the collective effort, we will remember that the Rockets have achieved their best first half of the season with 74 points scored to finish at 146 units, again, their record this season, for a fourth success in four games against the Pelicans.

– “Baby Jokic” in his works. There have been many reasons for satisfaction on the Houston side. Alongside Dillon Brooks and its 7/11 from a distance or Amen Thompson who came close to Triple-Double, we will remember the slaughter of Alperen Sengun, which was effective and which has also enlisted the public with its sense of show. Author of 20 points (7/11), 5 rebounds and 6 assists, he released the big game on two huge dunks and also two passes behind the back that made the crowd rise in the second half.

– The release of Amen Thompson. The only black point, the outing of the team's “warrior”, whose left ankle turned well by falling on the foot of Karlo Matkovic five minutes from the end of the match, just before Udoka came out his holders. The twin brother of Ausar Thompson quickly got out of the field, lengthening on the ground before joining the locker room. The player managed to contain the pain and left the field without assistance, but the images are not beautiful at all.
