In the weird scene category, here’s one you don’t see every day.
In today’s game between the White Sox and the Tigers, the White Sox won at home 2-1 in the 10th inning.
But the way the victory was achieved is… special.
In fact, the Tigers pitcher dropped a shot that the club’s receiver was unable to contain. The ball ended up in the referee’s face.
He fell to the ground and the to catch Detroit, instead of going for the ball, had the reflex to see if the referee was correct.
And it was during this time that a runner from Chicago started from third base to easily cross home plate to give the victory to his team.
I don’t blame the Sox runner since the beauty was on the line. I don’t blame the Tigers receiver either, who had a human reflex.
It happens fast, games like this.
But let’s say it’s a funny result. It’s special that play isn’t stopped the moment the ball hits an umpire, when you think about it. But it is the law.
Let’s say the White Sox are going to take the win, but it’s hard to be happy with how.
