Rain will prevent Max Scherzer from pitching against the Braves

Today’s game between the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves, two big teams in the National East, has been postponed to August.

For what? Due to New York rain.

What’s notable in the news is that it will now stop veteran Max Scherzer from pitching during the series against the Braves.

For what? Due to his 10-game suspension for using sticky products while throwing.

What you need to know is that Scherzer always denied cheating, but he accepted his suspension because he felt he couldn’t win his appeal, but also because of the schedule.

After all, the 10th and final game of his suspension would have been tomorrow and he could have pitched Monday against the Braves. But there, Game 10 will be Monday and Scherzer will not be eligible to pitch.

The pitcher, who was acquired to pitch big games against the Braves, must be furious. But good: he is the architect of his own misfortune.

He will therefore be eligible to pitch on Tuesday against Detroit. So I expect to see him pitch Tuesday at Michigan after using the suspension to his advantage to heal himself a bit.

Recall that Justin Verlander launched Friday in the minors and he seems ready to make his debut in New York. Will it launch on Wednesday, five days later? I have a feeling yes.

If so, it will be ironic that the two pitchers could pitch together one after the other for the first time since they were in… Detroit, precisely.
