On March 13, 2009, LeBron James overthrew Sacramento with 51 points

It wasn’t his first game with more than 50 points, it wasn’t a great meeting, but this meeting which took place 13 years ago occupies a good place in the CV of the “King” thanks to a stunning scenario.

The Cavaliers have this March 13, 2009 the opportunity to validate their title of champion of the “Central” division, against the Kings who are ending the worst season in their history: 17 wins for 65 losses. Yet they are the ones who lead after three quarters, and quite widely: 98-84.

But LeBron James is not taking the Cavs to the top of the Eastern Conference for nothing: the No. 23 gets angry and passes 16 points in the last period to his opponent by bringing his team back into the game, while Mike Brown is sent off for having let the referees know a little too loudly that his best player was being pushed around.

While Cleveland is still leading 30 seconds from the end and Bobby Jackson has the ball in hand, LeBron James intercepts a pass for Kevin Martin and causes the fault.

He scores one throw out of two and snatches the overtime. He then scored 6 more points there, to reach 51 units, with a 2+1 on yet another foul from the Kings, and a 3-point dagger.

It’s the 8th of his 15 games with more than 50 career points, and he’s heading straight for his first MVP title.
