Marcus Stroman can already forget his player option for 2026

Marcus Stroman has been, for a few weeks, on the list of injured in the Yankees. The starter, who had an execrable start to the season, was going on the list of cripples due to persistent inflammation on the knee.

And anyway, his MPM of 11.57 in three starts made sure that he was (really) no caliber in the rotation of the Yankees.

However, in the last hours, we learned that Stroman has undergone a decline in his rehabilitation. Aaron Boone spoke of discomfort in the knee of his ready.

It is for this reason that at the moment, Stroman has stopped throwing.

So we don't know when Stroman could resume his rehabilitation for one day, make a return to the rotation. That said, we feel that it is really, but really not imminent.

And where it becomes interesting is that it should be remembered that the Stroman contract, signed before the 2024 season, was one of two years. That said, the starter would be able to obtain a player option for 2026 on one condition: he had to launch at least 140 rounds in 2025.

So that makes sure that there is really matter to believe that less than a real miracle, Stroman can forget his player option.

Last year, when he was rather spared from injuries, Stroman launched 154.2 rounds. This season, he has already missed five starts … and we understand that he may miss several others in the coming weeks.

Reaching the 140 -sleeves tray, so it's extremely Unlikely … and when you know that the Yankees will not want to pay it $ 18 million in 2026, the club will make sure that the starter has really no chance of getting there.

We must therefore expect to see Stroman becoming an autonomous player at the end of the season … and considering his performances since the break of the star match last year, it is to wonder if there will be the slightest interest in his services this winter.
