Everyone can win the division, lesson of the week
Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration. But rarely has the NFL left us with so little certainty after 13 weeks:
In the AFC North, Ravens and Steelers are tied.
In the AFC South, three teams are within one victory (and the Titans are excused, there was a pool).
In the NFC East, the Eagles have just lost half of their lead against the Cowboys in two weeks.
In the NFC North, Bears and Packers are neck and neck.
In the NFC West, three teams are at 9 wins.
It's madness, and the end of a calendar full of divisional matches will bring a lot of suspense.
NFC is absolute parity
The Bears are currently seeded number 1 with 9 victories. The San Francisco 49ers are currently seeded number 7 with… 9 wins. Whatever the playoff posters in this conference, all teams can win.
Lamar Jackson needs to stop here
It is always commendable to want to continue playing at all costs to help your team. But sometimes it's better to take the time to do things right. Lamar Jackson came back too soon, and he's a shadow of his former self. Without explosiveness and without benchmarks, he is no better today than Tyler “Pro Bowl” Huntley.
It's a difficult decision, but the wisest thing would surely be to put it aside temporarily to find the real Lamar.
The Eagles have a problem
When we think of the Eagles, we think of a defending champion with an unstoppable offense in 2024. While the stars are still there, the Eagles are only the 28e most efficient offense in the NFL.
Nothing is working, and offensive coach Kevin Patullo is in the hot seat. But reducing this lack of performance to him is too simple. Jalen Hurts, Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens are just the ghosts of last season's players.
Super Bowl in 2022, crisis in 2023, Super Bowl in 2024, crisis in 2025? Nick Sirianni is under pressure to find a solution.
The reception of the year for Puka Nacua
A little closer to perfection.
Max Brosmer, Will Levis 2.0
They wanted to kill the man, they did not kill the idea.
The Texans' defense is historic
Only once in the season has the Texans defense taken more than 20 points. Only once in 12 matches. If the team as a whole is not perfect, the defensive squad is the best in the NFL.
If the defenses win the titles, then the Texans are ultimately not that far from being scary in the AFC.
Ben Johnson is coach of the year
There are franchises that are perennial losers, and then one man comes along and changes everything. It could be an owner (Lurie to the Eagles) or a coach (Bill Belichick to the Patriots), or even a player (Peyton Manning to the Colts).
Ben Johnson took over a franchise coming out of a decade of mediocrity, and turned it into a steamroller in one season. The Bears are now the leader of the NFC. Caleb Williams seems to be progressing every week, the fundamentals are mastered.
In short, Ben Johnson left the Lions for the new Lions. He is the coach of the year.
