The Commanders are (already) retouching one of their logos

A well thought out project…

20 days. It will only take 20 days for Washington to modify its newly unveiled logo. Controversial subject, the logo “blazon” of the Commanders presents in border the years of the championships won by the franchise. Except that the controversy has swelled around the fact that the club displays the year of the finals and not the seasons linked to them. No problems for the championships, but for the Super Bowls the accounts are no longer fair.

Washington tried to quickly straighten things out by considering replacing Super Bowl years with Roman numerals. A graphically questionable idea that was rejected by the NFL last week. The league requires pre-approval of any logo or identity changes, and normally a one-year notice applies.

Finally the Commanders were able to modify their coat of arms to show the “good” years, ie 1982, 1987 and 1991.

“We heard you loud and clear,” the franchise tweeted. “Going forward, our crest will reflect our Super Bowl victories using regular season years. ”
