The Deshaun Watson transfer case has been dragging on for almost a year, and the Texans have obviously decided to speed things up a bit.
According to ESPN, the leaders of Houston first came to terms with their counterparts in New Orleans, Cleveland and Carolina before allowing the quarterback to meet with them.
In short: compensation is good. Watson just has to find the destination he likes. Once he has chosen, all that remains is to finalize the transaction.
It is not yet known what the interested franchises would have agreed to pay. From the start, rumors have swirled around three first-round picks, other draft picks and players.
Journalist Dianna Russini does not specify if it is the same for the Falcons, who joined the fight for Watson a little later.
The first step for the Saints, Panthers, and Browns in arranging a meeting with QB Deshaun Watson was presenting a trade package to the Texans, per multiple league sources. Once Houston approved, only then did they meet.
