Diego Pavia

Born April 30, 2001 in Albuquerque, New Mexico
1m83 for 94 kilos
Quarterback, Vanderbilt

The Arkenstone

Discovered in the heart of Erebor in Tolkien's work, Arkenstone is a precious stone whose light makes its owner a supreme leader. For a year and a half, Vanderbilt has been a university discussed on all TV shows. The stadium located in Nashville had an average of 25,000 spectators before the arrival of Diego Pavia: there were 35,000 for the first match in 2025!

The quality of his decision-making, as well as his dynamism in the ground game allow victories. Above all, his exceptional leadership makes him the ultimate exciting player. Diego Pavia plays quarterback but with a linebacker attitude!

Since Johnny Manziel (2012-2013), no university player has produced to this extent the power to highlight a university.

The army of the dead

Academically, Vanderbilt University is in the top 20 in the United States. Lemonade, on the other hand, is more acidic on the football field! In 2025, the number of NFL players from Vanderbilt can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Five out of one thousand and seven hundred players! Go six, counting Eagles guard Tyler Steen, who went to Vandy but was drafted while he was playing at Alabama.

If life is good in Tennessee, this location includes them in the toughest conference in the country. So every year, the Commodores serve as a doormat to Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU. From 2000 to 2023, their record is 93 victories for 191 defeats! In a sport where war metaphors are legion, Vanderbilt's army is dead! “Was dead,” more precisely.

Because after a cataclysmic season in 2020 (9 defeats for no victories), the Vanderbilt community comes together in an exceptional council. We must eradicate the evil that is eating away at their lands. This mission is entrusted to Clark Lea.

Gandalf

If today Clark Lea can be compared to the magician Gandalf the Whitehis journey initially gave him a gray color. Baseball champion at the university level in Alabama, he was recruited by Belmont University in Nashville to play this sport. For the last two years of Collegehe stayed in Nashville but changed universities and sports. He joined Vanderbilt to be a fullback on the football field.

Then, his career as an assistant coach took him across the country. From Dakota to Los Angeles (UCLA), from New York City (Syracuse) to Carolina (Wake Forest). He specialized on the defensive side of the ball, obtaining excellent results with Notre Dame. Thus, he leads and helps to progress the now safety of the Baltimore Ravens Kyle Hamilton.

Motivated and competent, his magic is not yet working at Vanderbilt. Three seasons where he only managed 9 victories for 27 defeats! Intelligent, he knows that his strategic genius needs to be brought to fruition on the ground.

The county

Diego Pavia grew up in Albuquerque. A medium-sized town that became famous around the world, thanks to the series “Breaking Bad”. But wedged between the more attractive lands of Texas, Colorado and Arizona, its inhabitants live there with the same self-sufficiency as those of the County.

In 2020, Diego Pavia is a complete unknown nationally. No one has ever heard of it outside of New Mexico. Without a scholarship offer, the quarterback therefore joins a “Junior College”. The 2020 pandemic prevented him from expressing his talent but the following year, he allowed the New Mexico Military Institute to have a historic season of invincibles! Regular season then playoffs, Diego Pavia won the championship without ever losing.

For his 3rd university season, he is playing a cut above. No, the best programs still aren't courting him! He joins New Mexico State, in the weakest conference in the first division. His second season was dazzling: 2973 yards and 26 touchdowns in the air, in addition to 923 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground!

Clark Lea is convinced: Diego Pavia will be his ring bearer. And many are doubtful about entrusting such an important mission to such a small quarterback.

Frodo

Diego Pavia is small. By the standards of this sport, he is a Hobbit for the quarterback position. But his courage surpasses his physical limitations! In 2024, he leaves his native country for the first time and becomes the “Frodo Baggins” of the Vanderbilt project. High school wrestling champion, he is as surly as a linebacker. This is used to gain yards on the ground and to fend off a pass rusher trying to tackle him. Above all, this atypical attitude for a quarterback unites his teammates!

And while the team is coming out of a season with two wins and 10 losses, the 2024 results are finally positive. Seven victories (6 defeats), a performance that Vanderbilt had not achieved for 16 years! Kentucky is beaten, Auburn too, as is Georgia Tech. And the highlight of this unexpected journey is the almighty Alabama which falls on October 5, 2024.

“Sauron” is defeated and the fans are drunk with happiness. At the final whistle, they invade the field, tear down the posts and leave in a procession, throwing them into Nashville's Cumberland River. Diego Pavia was the one who made the unthinkable possible, completing 80% of his 20 passes, throwing two touchdowns and no interceptions. He defeated the university level dark master!

The return of the King

During the last offseason, Diego Pavia was courted in football land. With New Mexico State University, his image rights allowed him to earn $1,400 per month. Vanderbilt University later multiplied this total by ten! But as the 2025 season approaches, several universities are making him an annual offer: the best reaching $4M! But Diego Pavia decides to remain faithful to his first commitment.

“Vanderbilt officials told me that eventually they might match this offer. But that would mean he would then give me all the money he had available! And therefore no recruit could come and strengthen the team. I want to win, above all. I trust my coaches here and they all trusted me last year so I owe that to them. »

And this is how the squad is reinforced with a receiver, a runner and a left tackle. As well as a safety becoming the team's best defender. Vanderbilt shocks middle earth: seven wins in the first eight 2025 games! Much more powerful kingdoms are wiped out: Virginia Tech, Auburn, South Carolina and Missouri. Even LSU's Giant Troll is transformed into stone status.

Diego Pavia is determined to reach the mountain of destiny: the playoffs. This year, twelve battalions will compete in this annual tournament. An ancient prophecy written in the “black language of Mordor” says: Vanderbilt is a university champion!
