Giants – Colts (38-10): Daniel Jones sends New York to the playoffs!

New York Giants (9-6-1) – Indianapolis Colts (4-11-1): 38-10

They did it ! While few people, at the start of the season, thought Brian Daboll’s men could snatch a place in the playoffs, the Giants did it and with style.

New York made short work of the Colts, always weaker, thanks in particular to an excellent Daniel Jones (19/24, 177 yards, 2TD; 11 races, 91 yards, 2TD) and a devastating second quarter time for their opponents with 24 points scored and 0 conceded.

After 6 seasons without the playoffs, Giants fans will soon find a taste for the final stages.

A “historic” 2nd quarter

If the Giants see the Colts score first on a field goal (0-3), the New Yorkers take their troubles patiently before knocking out their opponents in the second quarter.

The locals chained a 24-0 to get out of reach and advance to a quiet victory.

The first two touchdowns come on receptions from Richie James (7rec, 76 yards, 1TD) and Isaiah Hodgins. If the first was the conclusion of a series carried by the ground game and Saquon Barkley, the second owes a lot to Daniel Jones and Daniel Bellinger who advanced the leather throughout the series.

The coup de grace is dealt the following series by the defense. On a short pass for Paris Campbell, Nick Foles is intercepted by Landon Collins who goes back 52 yards for the touchdown (21-3).

Just before halftime the Giants add a field goal to lead 24-3. Opposite Indianapolis and Jeff Saturday are unanswered and continue to offer little on the field. Also note Foles’ injury on the last drive before intermission.

More than to wait

Inevitably with such a lead and facing the Colts in distress, the Giants just have to wait for the whistle to celebrate.

The second half is therefore of little interest but nevertheless allows Daniel Jones to refine his very good evening and his stat line with two nice touchdowns in the race (38-10).

Meanwhile, the Colts had saved the honor on a touchdown from Michael Pittman on a pass from Sam Ehlinger.
